However, there’s an important KEY to successful email marketing that most people overlook, and that is…
The TITLE of Your Email
In fact the way you title your email is SO important, the success of your email marketing campaign depends on it.
Why an Email Title is Important to Email Marketing
In your eBay listings your 55 character listing title is the “map” that helps searchers find your listings in eBay’s search engines.
With email marketing, your title serves one primary purpose…To get your email OPENED!
Because an email that’s not opened will never be read. And an email that’s not opened will be the target of the delete key. Therefore it’s key to write an email title that will get your email opened and read.
The payoff for you? A great email title and newsletter will bring you more customer sales!
Motivating People to Open Your Emails
Most sellers tend to send out emails with fairly generic email titles. For example:
eBay Seller Email: Save money! Shop my eBay Store for great deals
New in my store
Check this out!
Winter Clearance Sale
And while there’s nothing inherently wrong with these email titles, there’s also nothing engaging about them either. They are all fairly generic email subject titles.
You certainly can intermix generic titles into your email campaign, but use them as the exception not the rule.
You might think that writing an intriguing email title requires a lot of work. Not so!
With the knowledge you’re about to gain in the next section (and a little help from a tried and true writers tool )you’ll be writing effective emails titles in no time!
5 Strategies for Writing Titles that Get Your Emails Opened
Next we’re going to look at 5 different strategies you can use to get those emails opened!
These 5 kinds of email titles will engage your reader and inspire them to OPEN your email!
1. Target your email title…
…to your customers’ interests. The more specific the better. If you’re sending an email in which you want to promote your vintage lace linens, rather than using a generic email title such as “Check Out Our New Linens” create a more specific title such as “Introducing Our One of a Kind Vintage Lace Linens”
Generic title: Check Out Our New Linens (get 100+ Free Email Subject Lines)
Targeted title: Introducing Our One of a Kind Vintage Lace Linens
As you can see, the 2nd title targets a very specific audience and arouses curiosity about the new, unique linens you’ve just brought in stock. Which brings us to our second strategy…
2. Arouse Curiosity.
People are naturally curious. And we like having our curiosity peaked! An email title that peaks your reader’s curiosity is likely to get opened.
The owner of a pet products store could write an email newsletter with a title of…
“The Top 3 Things Every Poodle Owner Must Possess…”
A seller who wants to promote flat irons (for your hair) in their email marketing newsletter might write…
“How to Turn Your Unruly Hair into a Sleek and Shiny Mane”
By using an element of curiosity in your email title people will want to click on your emails and see what’s inside!
Note: Do NOT make your curiosity emails SPAMMY or MISLEADING. Curiosity alone with no substance will turn people off. If you are going to use an element of curiosity in your title, make sure you follow through on your promise and deliver the “goods” within the email content.
If you are promoting “The Top 3 Things Every Poodle Owner Must Possess…” – your email must follow through and share those top 3 things with your customer.
Misleading email titles are even worse. “Loose 150 lbs in 30 days” is simply untrue and will cause your readers to immediately delete your email.
3. Use Urgency.
No one wants to miss the big “it”. That one thing they wished they’d known about. Email titles that convey urgency will ensure that your customers at least give your email a quick glance! (Once they’re reading you can grab them with your copy!)
Your email title can contain an element of scarcity.
“It ends tonight at midnight!”
“Only 4 vases left.”
“20% off for the next 24 hours.”
As with curiosity emails, urgency emails must follow through. If you’re promoting a sale that ends at midnight, it MUST end at midnight. Using a sense of urgency in your emails but not backing it up by doing what you say you’re going to do will cause your customers not to trust you.
And that will kill all chances of your prospect ever reading an email (or buying from you) again.
But if you DO have limited quantities of a product or the sale IS ending in 24 hours – writing an email title with a sense of urgency is a great way to promote it!
Note: Fostering a relationship with your customers that is built on trust is the best thing you can do to build a successful business! As the old saying goes “You must walk the talk.”
4. Tell a story.
We all love stories. It’s part of human nature. Creating an email title that is a lead-in to a story can be very intriguing to your buyers.
“I Found These Beautiful Crystal Vases for You in Maine”
“The History Behind Our Hand Crafted Wall Clocks”
“Why 9 Out of 10 Customers Prefer Our New Steamer”
Then in your email continue on with the story that you started. Emphasize the human connection. Your customers want to buy from a person, not from a nameless, faceless eBay store or website.

5. Have fun.
A little fun and humor in your email title can go along way. Have fun! Be creative.
This past holiday season I received an email with a title that read…
“A Sale So Hot Even Santa Stopped to Shop!”
I opened this email immediately!

Ready to Take Your Email to the Next Level? Learn How to Build Your List
To start off this review I want to make a few things clear. We currently USE SumoMe on BrandBlast and the BrandBlast University; so, we do have a sort of – biased opinion in terms of if we’d recommend it or not. ONLY BECAUSE WE USE IT and know firsthand just how powerful SumoMe can be for a website in terms of Social Media Sharing, Email List Building and More.
What is SumoMe?
SumoMe is a free (…and premium) tool that was developed to help you grow your website by optimizing various elements of your website. With an array of tools (both free and paid) that can actually help you make your website just a little better. With the added benefit of multiple ‘services’ under one plugin – it makes for easy management using their inline dashboard. Learn More About SumoMe Here
Among the many features; the one that sticks out most to us (when tweaking things) you can have a live preview of what you’re adding to your site and the changes you’re making. Helping designers and site owners see (in realtime) the edits that they’re making to their site. This adds a whole new level of customization that most plugins of this sort don’t typically include… much less for free.
They also offer a ton of integrations and services within the plugin. And since you can find and add an array of different types of popups, smart bars and more throughout your site – it’s very simple to do with the help of all these added features.
Customization in SumoMe is great! There are so many different tweaks and effects you can add to make each and every integration and app unique to your site.
From custom colors to custom images and more – the customization capabilities within SumoMe are next to none. With the options available; you’re able to create an array of email list building popups, smart bars and more. There’s an option to customize nearly everything inside each app. Try SumoMe Here
Speaking of all the apps and integrations – let’s talk about how you actually go about integration them with your SumoMe plugin on your site(s).
SumoMe offers a unique approach to selecting what features you want (…and don’t want) by using what they call the Sumo Store. Which houses a selection of categories and apps within each of those categories. (And while these categories may be changed upon the time of you reading this review – they typically include the following)
Which houses applications and integrations having to do with those of communicating and connecting with your customers. Such as Contact forms, Alerts, Fresh Contact Forms, Email Contact Forms and more.
Which (as you guessed it) houses all the applications and integrations dealing with email. Such as List Building, Scroll Box Popups, Smart Bars and More.
Housing most of the nitty-gritty applications that can help you keep track of analytics from your website as well as a cool feature (that we’ll cover later) called Heat Maps.
This is where you’ll find all things social media and sharing. (and then some…)
- … Upgrading & Service Addons
This is where you’ll find new packages and ways to upgrade your account to unlock new features and integrations.
*You’ll notice we didn’t include much about the categories of ‘Traffic’ and ‘Ecommerce’ – that’s because these are fairly new categories so there isn’t much to say about them (yet) but we will update this review when more information becomes available.
Pros & Cons of SumoMe
While there are many of the two; we think it’s only fair that we narrow down the top Pros AND Cons of using SumoMe. Not only to help you distinguish if this is the right plugin for you; but also because there are an overwhelming amount of the two. Not to say that there is anything that we would be grounds to completely disregard SumoMe; we just know you probably don’t have hours to sift through the giant list we could compile of what’s great and what’s not.
So we’ll make this simple:
Pro 1: Integrations
There are tons of different apps and integrations inside SumoMe (that are easily accessed for free without needing a paid account) which helps the ‘starter site owner’ quickly get their site looking and performing better. Without having to learn different applications and platforms that they have never heard of.
Pro 2: Customization
While there are many customization options in similar applications – SumoMe offers a great deal of customization features inside the dashboard. Making it a great way to dig in to whatever you’re adding to your site. Be it a popup, bar and more.
Pro 3: Freemium
The very fact that there is a free SumoMe account does not surprise us. Almost every (good) plugin has at least a free version. But; what they include inside the free version of SumoMe is what astounds us. In fact; there are more features than we’ve even mentioned here! (we just don’t have the time to include the hundreds of other things to say about SumoMe!)
So there really is no reason to not give it a try. At most (if it don’t work out for your site) you wasted 15 minutes of your time and you learned something from it.
Pro 4: Intelligence
We’ve all seen popups and plugins that appear to be ‘smart’. Popups that will display at this specific time to these specific visitors… and for the most part they’re a joke… SumoMe is actually quite intelligent. In the way that it displays (or doesn’t display) popups on your site. It’s very useful and doesn’t ‘tweak-out’ after multiple users.
Pro 5: It Works
Since implementing SumoMe into both our BrandBlast University and BrandBlast homesite; we’ve dramatically increased our email optin rate and have (ultimately) grew our email list multiple times over. With that being said; we can say (firsthand) just how powerful SumoMe can be in terms of actually getting things done.
Con 1: Features
While there are tons of features loaded into SumoMe (and the apps included) there are usually only 1 – 3 different ‘themes’ for each features. The email popup for example only utilizes 2 or 3 themes for the FREE Version. (and though this doesn’t effect the extensive collection in the premium version) it would be nice to see a few more options to at least try before deciding to purchase.
Con 2: Pricing
Sure; they’re giving you a ton of features for the one time fee of FREE – but; those features included inside the Premium Version boast the capabilities that could easily be ‘slimmed down’ into free versions as well. And the pricing for the first month starts off at $25/mo. (or $20/mo. if you pay annually)
It’d be nice to see that go a little lower (… this especially attract new customers that are a little new to the scene of owning a website)
Con 3: Learning Curve
While it is very simple to get started using SumoMe; you have to keep in mind that this is coming from our in-house graphic designers who specialize in these things. For the average site owner – who say; just wants to start building a small email list, the learning curve from beginner to user of SumoMe is a slight one.
But; this can be resolved with time and patience. Getting used to the platform should be your number one priority when trying out SumoMe.
What Do We Think?
Personally; we think SumoMe is a great application and should definitely be at least tried if you’re a website owner. From building your email list to directing traffic to a specific page – SumoMe is a great tool to use for website owners. (and it’s super simple if you use WordPress)
With that being said; we highly recommend that you test out SumoMe for yourself and see what you think. If it works for your business then use it!
We hope you enjoyed this review. If you did; remember to leave a comment telling us what you think. (Also, suggest any other plugins you’d like us to review in the future) Try SumoMe Here
A Free WordPress Plugin made by some pretty nice folks offers the ability to create high quality exit-intent popups for visitors leaving your site.
With a handful of useful features and customization option this plugin is a definite one for any on-budget entrepreneur or site owner trying to grow their email list, social sharability, increase conversions and more. And this is our Review of Yeloni.
What is a Yeloni?
Yeloni is a free WordPress plugin that is available with the aims of allowing you to create what are known as exit intent popups. These popups only show when a user is leaving your website (by navigating to the close button up top) – when this action is triggered – a lightbox will appear that will feature your Yeloni exit popup.
And they actually look pretty neat! They have a few different templates that you can choose from to help you easily start the customization process and make each popup your own.
(And there’s more!)
Why is it Useful?
Other than the fact they allow you a slew of different options in terms of what kind of popup you’d like to display; from social sharing, discount offerings, email list building and more – they actually allow you to customize a decent portion of what your popup will look like. (As always; we’d love to see even more customization options – maybe even a live, drag n drop editor of sorts) but the standard editor works magic if you know your way around a WordPress site.
We actually use it here on the website. Chances are; you’ll probably see it when you leave (breaking some kind of 4th or 5th wall, here…) and you’ll be able to see for yourself just how attractive they display.
How Does BrandBlast Use It?
Among many other popup plugins we test – this was a plugin that we actually kept using after we initially finished testing. With how nice the folks behind it were; we definitely enjoy our time using this platform. And with the rise of our content creation – email is the next thing to tackle. (An with Yeloni; we’re getting a headstart compared to most other services like this)
Because our Graphics Design Team can actually design what a plugin is going to look like and then… make it look like that!
There is no more guesswork involved with creating high converting popups that will help our customers and visitors stay on the page. (and it actually has helped, quite a lot) to not only build our email list but help decrease the amount of 1-time visits we have on blog posts.
In the past; we’d see a viewer read 1-2 full blog posts and then be on their way – now; they’re sticking around for 4-10 blog posts at a time! (That’s a GIANT INCREASE) to what we previously had.
Because we’re using Yeloni in a few different ways; sure, we’re building our email list with their neat optin options – but we’re also offering OTHER BLOG POSTS with the plugin. Which helps us transition a reader from one piece of content to the next without them feeling forced.
Would I Recommend Yeloni? Definitely. It’s very easy to set up – easy to use and definitely helps your website improve in terms of email list building and actually keeping visitors on your site (longer.) Would I Recommend Going Pro? As most plugins do these days; Yeloni does have a pro/addon edition that allows you to further customize where your popups show, when they show and how they show / exit. Even including mobile support for popups on tablets and phones! So; yes. I would HIGHLY recommend getting your hands on this plugin.
To not only help your website grow; but to help give your users a better experience with more seamless popups and sharing abilities.

It’s first important to understand what a popup plugin is – and why they’re so effective.
As I mentioned before – we’ve all came across a popup at some point in our web-connected lives. Whether it be those spammy-looking ads or beautifully crafted popups telling us our favorite blog is offering a discount.
And there are a ‘thing’ because they simply work. Plain and simple. They work in a couple different ways, actually. Not only do they help you grow your email list (in the form of optin forms) or they may help to increase / direct traffic to a specific page or blog post on your website. And they’re pretty darn effective when it comes to what they achieve.
See, most readers will pay attention to what they think ‘should’ be there – we’ve made it almost easily known that we are TRYING to collect our readers’ emails. But; we do this in the sense of providing SO MUCH high quality content – that they almost feel ‘guilt-ed’ into opting in.
And with that; we’re going to give you 5 of our FAVORITE Free Popup Plugins for WordPress – all of which you can start implementing right away and grow your list, direct traffic or even increase your brand awareness; quickly.
So let’s dive into it!
1) Yeloni (Exit Popups)
This is a pretty important variable to the users on your site. Exit intent. This is simply when someone goes up to the top of your website and moves the cursor towards that X at the top – when this plugin ‘senses’ the visitor making these actions; it displays a pretty popup window that creates a ‘distraction’ for your leaving visitors – in hopes to make them stay.
There are a few different popups that you can display – from offering a ‘Social Share’ to ‘Discounts’ or even linking to a specific website / page – Yeloni is our go to plugin for creating highly effective ‘Exit Intent’ popups. Get Yeloni Here
2) Rapidology (Email Collection)

Just like Rapidology (but without the bells and whistles of customization) SumoMe takes a great and well-deserved spot on this list as a useful tool to help you not only grow your email list – but make some pretty cool looking popups in the process.
You can also make some extensive changes to when / where / how the popup(s) are displayed.
There is a few different modifications that you can make to your popups (but I will warn you – the majority of the MAJOR modifications can only be made if you buy the monthly subscription) – which we did not. Get SumoMe Here
4) PopupAlly (Email Collection)
While this is a fairly known plugin – it still earned a spot on this list. This is the plugin that we started with here at BrandBlast.net – the first few email optins that we got as a business; were generated with this plugin. So we HAVE to include it for homage-sake. Get PopupAlly Here
5) Optin Revolution (Email Collection)

Want to Know More About Building an Email List? Grab our FREE EP in the University; explaining EXACTLY How you can build an email list
It’s very imperative that we optimize our sales page (in addition to our created courses).
But how do we do this?
It’s actually not as hard as you think. And over the last 6-7 Months BrandBlast has spent here on Teachable (where we host our University) we’ve learned quite a bit about how to optimize our courses. (Specifically our course sales pages…)
Because we’ve successfully published (and are selling) over 50+ Courses here; we feel as though we have a bit of information that other Teachable Teachers can utilize to grow their schools and (even) their revenue.
We also have an awesome FREE Landing Page Checklist you can download (absolutely free) right now to better optimize your sales pages!
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, right? Wrong.
Though it’s something we’re taught not to do since childhood – we still judge the look of things in association to the quality of said thing.
Your course / school is no different. And in fact; over 73.9% of our enrolled students (when asked via Email Survey) said they associated the value of our University to the look and production of the:
- Sales Page Formatting
- Graphics on Sales Page
- Call to Action Format
- If It Had a Sales Video (which we’ll talk about in just a moment)
Here are a Few Examples of Great Course Graphics (otherwise known as a thumbnail):
[We won’t cover creating effective titles – you should already have that accomplished by this point]
2. Sales Page Copy (Text)
Now we know that readers need to be hooked into wanting something – you have to make it ‘worth their while’.
And you can achieve this by effectively wording your sales page’s copy.
Inserting a healthy dose of keywords – brightly colored words – even outbound links to bring them to more (free) content.
(we won’t cover it in depth here; but there is an unspoken bond between readers associating your brand with value. You can achieve this by giving them FREE content FIRST. Then ‘Right Hooking Them’ with a Paid offer later)
A general rule of thumb is; the more effectively worded (and pretty looking) your sales page is – regardless of the actual value of the product – the product typically sells.
That’s not to say you should try to sell garbage with a bow on it – more so to pay just as much attention to the look and feel of your sales page AS YOU DID creating the actual course.
Here’s a few great examples of effective sales copy:

3. Call To Actions
Don’t just settle with the ‘Enroll in Course’ button text that comes standard with Teachable – you will definitely need to spice things up a bit.
By this; we mean different ‘Action’ Texts. Such as some of these great examples:

For example, let’s say you’re selling a health supplement for $20 a pop. Tell people they can buy another one of your products for a $5 discount if they add it to their order. That’s upselling! Your goal is to get more money out of the first sale of each and every customer.
Here are eleven upselling strategies you can adopt to increase your profits:
1. Deluxe Upsell: Sell a basic product and tell people that for a little more money they can receive the deluxe version instead.
2. Money Upsell: Offer people the resell rights on the product they are purchasing from. You could charge an extra $30 dollars to get the reproduction rights. This is especially effective for information products such as e-books.
3. Discount Upsell: If you’re selling a product that people might order again in the future, such as health supplements, you could offer them a second bottle of the same product at a discount.
4. Time Upsell: If you’re selling a product or service people subscribe to, a magazine or an e-newsletter for example, you could offer them a 50% discount if they subscribe for two years instead of one.
5. Quantity Upsell: This strategy resembles the discount upsell, but instead of offering a discount on an extra product purchase you can increase the discount according to how many products they order. If they order three they get a 10% discount, if they order 5 they get a 15% discount, and so on.
6. Package Upsell: If you’re selling a range of related products you could offer your customers a package deal. Tell them the products are much cheaper when they are all purchased in a single package as opposed to purchasing each product separately.
7. Affiliate Upsell: Offer a related company’s product as an upsell. This is a good strategy if you sell affiliate products alongside your own products. Offer a discount on the joint purchase as a way to introduce customers to your affiliate products. (Make sure your affiliate commission is bigger than the discount you offer, though!)
8. Free Upsell: You could offer a free sample or trial of your product (your first sale would be free) and then tell people that if they order the full version right away, or within a specified time limit, they will get a discount.
9. Extra Upsell: There are many things you could charge extra for at the point of sale. It could be gift wrapping, imprinting, customized designs, product cleaners (if you are selling shoes or furniture for example) and so on.
10. Extended Upsell: If your product comes with a warranty, you could offer to extend the warranty one more year for only $30.
11. Gigantic Bonus Package Upsell: If you are selling software or information products via the Internet you can offer a huge bundle of extra products for a mouth-wateringly low price. Tell the customer that the special low price bundle will not be offered again if he declines the purchase today.
So, you can use one or all of these strategies to increase your profits at the point of sale. Don’t be afraid to use your imagination to come up with other profitable
upselling strategies to squeeze extra value out of your “dear” (in both senses of the word) customers!
Increasing Profits with Upsell Email Marketing [ Video ]
Creating the Perfect Upsell
An upsell is one of the greatest weapons in a marketer’s arsenal, but what is a perfect one?
Essentially, an upsell involves recommending another product to the customer to add to their shopping cart before they reach your order form. You may have noticed that McDonalds upsell all the time in the form of “would you like fries with that” or similar.
Without an upsell, you are making basic sales and restricting your profits. However, *with* an upsell, you are maximizing your sales and also helping people out with new and relevant products.
And that’s the key to a perfect upsell, to be relevant. Without relevancy, your upsells will get a very low conversion rate and may even drive the customer away from buying anything at all.
For example, a visitor is at a website and is about to buy an information product about how to make money online using Internet Marketing. Before they get to the order form, the website will suddenly upsell them with a dog training book.
Now even though a lot of those buyers may own dogs, this is not what they came to the site to buy. Instead, the website owner should upsell them with something relevant, such as another valuable video course or a series of live tuition’s.
And that’s my next point. Whatever product you’re upselling must be valuable to your customer. So it’s no use trying to upsell them a PLR e-book which everyone already has stashed on their hard drive somewhere. They must find the product to be good and useful.
Finally, here’s a mistake which I see all the time. If you’re going to implement an upsell, don’t have any more than 2 upsells, as this will mostly likely make people leave even before buying your product.
Also, the amount of upsell is determined by how much pre-selling the customer has gone through.
For example, if there has been several e-mails about it and the customer is really excited to buy it, he/she won’t mind skipping two pages. However, if it’s a random encounter and they see 3 or more upsales, then they may even see your website as a ‘spam site’.
In summary, the key to a perfect upsell is for the product you’re offering to:
1) Be relevant
2) Provide value
3) Don’t overdo it!
With these effective tactics – creating a powerful upsell offer shouldn’t be as difficult as most will try to convince you it is. The truth is; you need to be creative. What we’ve laid out above may not work 100% as effectively as it has for us here at BrandBlast; though, through adaptation and modifying it to your needs – you can create a powerful upsell system to have your profits increase substantially!
EMAIL MARKETING 101: Building Your List
Having your own opt in list is essential if you want to succeed on the internet. Its common knowledge that email marketing is one of the most reliable ways of generating consistent free targeted traffic for your website.
Once you have your own responsive opt in list it can open up a variety of different opportunities, such as selling advertising space and setting up joint ventures with other list owners.
The first thing you need to do is collect email addresses from your visitors and you can do this by offering a free report or starting a newsletter using an autoresponder, allowing you to set up a series of messages that will be sent out automatically on your behalf on a time frame you specify.
Its important to choose the most reliable autoresponder at the start because it can be very stressful and time consuming to transfer your opt in list from one place to another.
For best results you should not use a free autoresponder service because advertisements will be added to all your outgoing emails. You will have no control over which ads are shown and this will distract your subscribers and dramatically reduce the response rates to your emails.
You can either pay a monthly fee and use a third party hosted service like Aweber Email Marketing or MailChimp, or you can pay a one time fee and install an autoresponder script like Auto Response Plus on your domain.
The problem with autoresponder scripts is that the number of subscribers you can store will be limited depending on how much disk space you have with your hosting plan, and you will also need to backup your list on a regular basis in case a problem occurs and all of the information is lost.
Its much easier and safer to use a third party hosted autoresponder service because you will not have to worry about installing a script and your subscribers will be stored securely on a dedicated server with no limits.
BUILD A KILLER EMAIL LIST [FREE DOWNLOAD]
Its essential that you focus on one specific topic for your opt in list as this will dramatically increase your response rates. You need to create a landing page consisting of a short sales letter that encourages visitors to subscribe, and a subscription form that allows visitors to enter their name and email address. You should also offer some quality bonus gifts to increase your conversion rates.
Double opt in lists are becoming more popular because they provide extra security as subscribers must confirm their email address, but many people will forget to complete this confirmation which results in fewer active subscribers so you may prefer to use the single opt in feature.
Once you have set up your landing page and follow up messages you will need to start sending visitors to your website. Submitting content to article directories and writing press releases are the most effective ways of generating unlimited free targeted traffic.
EMAIL MARKETING 101: How to Have Subscribers BEGGING for More
Just as an experiment, a friend of mine subscribe to ten different opt-in e-mail marketing lists to see which ones are effective. Many websites and online businesses have resorted to sending promotional materials to people who have subscribed to them in an effort to boost their sales or traffic. Opt-in email marketing sends newsletters, catalogs updates and many more promotional materials to website visitors who have agreed to be updated whether monthly, weekly or semiannually.
Through e-mail, an internet user that is on the list will receive their updates through email. If a promotional material piques their interest they will go to the site to learn more or to purchase outright. For the website operators or owners, this is a chance to remind their list of their existence and parlor their wares. With the numerous sites in the internet that offers the same products or services in one way or the other, the competition can get pretty tight and it is easy to be forgotten.
Back to my experimenting friend, he tried to find out which opt-in marketing strategies grabbed a person into begging for more. Some would send in very simple fashion, some would very outlandish while there are some that would just lie in between. The differences could easily be noticed and some have gotten the idea of an effective opt-in marketing strategy. He dubbed them effective because he felt like he just couldn’t wait to go their site and learn more, the more persuasive ones even got him halfway to reaching for his wallet and to his credit card before he realized this was only for an experiment.
Many companies and site present their promotional materials in a wide variety of concepts. Each has their own distinctive style and designs, but more than the outline and the presentation, the content and the articles are what keeps the attention of your potential customer locked on to your opt-in marketing medium. Creativity is the key here.
From talking to many satisfied opt-in list subscribers and forums, I have learned of what is essential in opt-in marketing and what makes the subscribers begging for more instead of lining up to unsubscribe.
Keep your promotional materials light, creative and original. Many people are stressed out as it is. Getting a stuffy business proposal rather than a lighthearted e-mail may just agitate them more. A warm friendly smile or banter is always more welcome than a serious business meeting or proposal. While you do want your customers to take you and your products and services seriously, you also want to show them that you know how to have fun.
Splash some color in your emails as well as provide some photos and articles that can be related to you but show good news or good lighthearted images as well. Provide a newsletter or promotional materials that will keep them in a light mood. Make your materials eye catching and grabbing that they wont be able to take their eyes of them. Pique their interests.
Have good content and article, even if it means investing in an experienced and professional copy writer to write them for you. An effective copy writer should be able to build trust between you and your customers. They should be able to establish your credibility in what they write. It must be informative but not too stuffy. Let go of the professional jargons and “talk“to your recipients.
A good article and content should be able to outline the benefits of your product and services and why they need what you are offering. But do not look to be overeager and too persuasive. It should be able to entertain as well as lead them to buying from you.
Your promotional materials should be clear. Don’t leave people guessing. You should lead them to you and not vice versa. Explain to them what they need to do in a manner that won’t be confusing. Try to anticipate also what your target client needs. Do your research and information gathering, many sites will be able to help you with that.
Provide clear and crisp images of what you are offering. If the people know what you have for them, they are more likely to beg for more. For example, if you are selling a car, provide them photos but only enough to encourage them to go to your site for more.
EMAIL MARKETING 101: How to Use an Autoresponder
Using autoresponders will help you to close more sales through consistent and effective follow up of your visitors.
With your autoresponders you’ll be able to:
– Educate your visitors about your product
– Share the benefits of purchasing your product
– Increase your credibility
– Build up your visitors’ trust in you
– Continue to keep your marketing message on your visitors’ minds so that when your visitors are ready to purchase from you, they will.
Some profitable ways to use autoresponders:
1. Publish an ezine
Done right, your ezine will provide you with a powerful way to promote your products, special offers, and also your affiliate programs. Your ezine can also provide you with an extra income, once it’s large enough for you to start selling ads to your readers and visitors. Begin promoting your ezine by including your subscription form and also your link to your sign up page on all your pages.
Also use a “popover” to plug your ezine and direct your visitors to either fill out your subscription form or visit your sign up page. In addition, get the word out about your ezine by submitting it to ezine directories and ezine announcement lists. Because these submissions can be very tedious, it’s wise to use ezine promotion software to handle much of this time-consuming work for you. That way you’ll be able to concentrate more on your ezine’s content and also on effectively marketing your business.
2. Offer a free email course.
The key to your winning course is your content. Give your readers useful content, and they’ll view you as a credible source of information and your product’s value will increase in their eyes. If your an article writer, you can use your articles as the basis of your course.
Because your articles are on topics of interest to your target audience, using them will enable you to create a course that both appeals to your visitors and provides them with information that they’ll find to be very useful. Simply choose a few related articles that cover different aspects of what you would like to write about. Then use these articles as your guide for writing the different parts of your new course.
3. Follow up with people that take you up on your free download or trial.
Start the follow up process by asking your visitor to fill out your subscription box or form in order to access her free trial. On your “thank you” page, let her know that she’ll need to confirm her subscription, and that after she does that she’ll get her link to start her trial in her welcome email. Give your visitor a strong incentive for taking you up on your offer.
For example, if you were offering a trial of your article submission software, you could offer an ebook that shares how to write articles and properly promote them to article directories and announcement lists as your special bonus.
4. Offer an article announcement list.
Your list will help you to get your articles published more frequently by webmasters and ezine publishers that have audiences that are interested in what you write about. Your list can also help you promote your affiliate program and get more new affiliate sign ups. In your publishing guidelines, let your subscribers know that they can earn money by rebranding your articles with their affiliate links in your “About the Author” section. Your subscribers will be more apt to publish your articles, and you’ll be able to get more new affiliates that have responsive subscribers and targeted traffic that they can promote your business to.
5. Offer a training course to your affiliates.
Savvy marketers know that to have a successful affiliate program, they need to invest in the success of their affiliates. One powerful way to do this is to make a generic training course available to them by autoresponder. Through your course, you’ll be able to provide your affiliates with valuable tips and strategies and elevate your profits by helping your new affiliates get started fast.
Make your course available on your affiliate sign up page/info page and also within your affiliates “control panel” where they check their stats. If you run a two-tier affiliate program, your course can also be used as a smart promotional tool for your affiliates.
Just have your affiliates give your course away to their visitors or subscribers, and they’ll be able to increase their commissions by referring more new affiliates into their second tiers that will successfully promote your biz.
EMAIL MARKETING 101: Writing & Sending Emails That DELIVER
If you want to create a dynamic e-mail campaign, you have to offer your clients more than a simple announcement. Far too often people fall into the trap of believing an announcement is enough to entice their customer.
Unfortunately, an announcement does little to help compel or encourage your clients to buy from you. If you want customers to buy from you, you’re far better off offering “special deals” or a “special offer” than simply offering an announcement.
An announcement says, “Hey, I have a new product!”
But what’s in it for the customer?
You have to think about what your customer’s needs are and how you are filling them with every contact you make. An announcement doesn’t take these needs into consideration, and that’s why far too often announcements fail to produce results.
An announcement also lacks a call to action or an incentive for customers to contact you. It doesn’t make sense to contact someone unless you are going to offer him or her an incentive to buy your product. Keep this in mind when creating your next e-mail campaign.
Types of Promotions
So now you know you have to offer incentives. Now, what kind of incentive do you offer in your e-mail campaign? There are many different incentives to offer. Most people rely on the special discount offer.
You don’t always have to offer a discount however, to get people to buy from you. You can for example, offer a new product to your customers. Say for example, you offer them a free publication, like a subscription to your newsletter if they buy your product now. Or, you can offer them 20% off your latest publication when they order.
You can also offer special deals by recognizing some special event in your personal life. Most customers appreciate e-mails that include some personal information about you. For example, let’s say you have an upcoming birthday or anniversary to celebrate. In your e-mail, mention this.
Say, “Because it’s my birthday today I’m offering you a special discount.” This will help your e-mails appear more personal in nature. You have to share personal information if you want to build trust with your clients. Let them know something about you. Say for example you are sharing your 10th anniversary with your partner. Let your customer’s know you are offering a one-time deal because of this.
Another promotion you can offer your clients is the “special sale.” I like to call this the “Oops, I forgot!” or “Oops, I screwed up!” offer.
In this special bonus offer, e-mail your clients a day or two after you send out an announcement. Then let them know you forgot to tell them something in the previous “announcement”, so if they order now, they can take advantage of your mistake.
Then offer them something. Then after a couple of days send them a last minute reminder. You can phrase it similar to, “We almost sold out, and we only have a few hours left, so act now so you don’t miss out. Remember, you’ll be reaping A, B, C benefits.”
Special offers are great during holidays, like Christmas, Halloween or even Valentines Day. Speaking of Valentines Day, remember your offers don’t have to be discounts. They can be something unusual, crazy or fun. Like on Valentines Day, offer your clients a rose or chocolate for ordering that day.
Your goal should be to keep things exciting and fun. Keep all your promotions an event. Another way to produce more feedback from your e-mails is to send customers FAQ e-mails. Let’s say for example, you send an e-mail that creates some questions you’d like to respond to. You can send an FAQ offer or follow up e-mail that answers all their questions and presents a new offer or special deal for your customers.
How Often You Should E-mail Clients?
How often should you e-mail your clients? If a customer consistently buys your products and services, you should send frequent e-mails. If however, you are sending a special promotional offer to someone that has never ordered from you, don’t waste too much time on it. My experience suggests customer’s who buy something once or twice are much more likely to buy again.
When Should You Send Your E-Mail Offers?
When should you e-mail your clients? The answer is “It depends.” My experience shows Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days to e-mail people.
Why? Who knows?
It may be people don’t want to check their e-mail on the weekends. It may be they are thinking of the weekend and not their e-mail on Friday.
They may have too much work to catch up on Mondays. For me, Tuesdays and Thursdays have always produced the best responses. Then again, I am focusing on B2B customers. Your experience of the B2C industry may be different.
These are just a few things you can do to spice up your e-mail campaign. The bottom line is this… whenever you send an e-mail, you have to create much more than a simple announcement.
An announcement isn’t going to call people to action. You have to carefully craft your e-mails, to encourage your customers to act. You want to offer your customers some incentive so they act on your e-mail immediately.
And one last point… Don’t reveal your price in the e-mail. Your job is to entice, compel and motivate your customers to buy.
That’s the bottom line.
EMAIL MARKETING 101: Optimize Your Lead Pages
To optimize email opt-in pages is among the most important jobs to do and is also among the most forgotten job. The way the opt-in forms and pages are presented determines the quality of list, rate of growth, and meets the subscriber’s expectations which in turn help in email performance. The very first step towards optimization is to get the people to fill in the opt-in page. Immediately following it is designing the layout of the opt-in page and form.
Making one come to the website is another issue. But once they get to the website, they should be allured into signing-up by making them go to the opt-in page. Firstly, the path to the sign up page must be made easier and clear. Links to sign up page or form must be included on the home page and even on other pages too. Promotional boxes should appear in the areas of side bars. The visitor shouldn’t search whether the website offers email newsletters or not. The links to the navigation area should send out clear message. Terms and names which aren’t obvious shouldn’t be used. Words such as Email Newsletter, Newsletter or eNewsletter are very appropriate.
If there is sufficient space, promote the latest newsletter on your home page by pasting its link. The website should have a ‘Knowledge and Resource Center’ area where extract of articles and archived issues can be placed. This area can then be used to promote sign-ups to the company’s newsletter. It is good to include the subscribe link in the back issues.
Since the purpose of the opt-in page is to make as many readers into subscribers, the design, copy and layout of the opt-in page should be similar to the landing page. The page should be designed with form, copy and images which should reflect confidence, value and trust. Links to samples must be included which can give an idea about the quality of the email to be received upon sign-up. Email’s small screenshot display is optional, but beneficial too. Testimonials from readers to the email publications can be included in pull quote format. The content of the testimonials can be either text or images.
In today’s world, everything comes for a price. So when a subscriber is giving his valuable email address, he is certainly looking for something in exchange. This is why images and copy should be included on the opt-in page which conveys the basic value of emails to be sent. Subscribers can be given ‘email only special deals’. Any kind of regular incentive goes a long way. Whether it is ‘$2 off the next purchase’ or ‘free white paper’, even discounts can increase conversion.
Certain details about the opt-in page should also be considered. A right balance needs to be maintained of the information that is collected through the opt-in form or page. Neither too much information must be asked; nor must too little information be asked. The future must be planned from the start. Obviously asking only the email address is very quick; information required for email delivery will be missed. Information which is not required for email delivery and segmentation or rationalization should be avoided. If there are too many fields, the not so important ones must be marked as optional.
To check syntax errors, a script should be included for that purpose. Two boxes should be present for entering email address twice. This reduces the risk of typing invalid email address. The minimum form fields to be included in the form are first name, last name, email address, and format preference. Optional form field can be based on secondary email address, frequency, preferences and demographics.

Those of you who are looking to make a lot of money can save a lot of time and still make a lot of money through the use of an autoresponder. There are several ways that you can use an autoresponder to your advantage, resulting in big money and more time for your business so you tend to other things or simply sit back and spend more time with your family.
An innovative way to use your autoresponder is to use it with your testimonials. If you lack the room on your site to add your testimonials to your ad copy, you can add them to your autoresponder. If you choose to add them to your responder you should always be sure to include all of them. It will look more professional, and let others know more about your products.
You can also choose to use your entire website in autoresponder format. Although this may sound silly to some, it’s actually an innovative idea that really works. Not all visitors will have the time to read your website; often times having to leave before they can really read what you have to offer. If you put your website in autoresponder format, you can email bits and pieces from your site to potential customers so they can continue to read when they have time.
Another innovative way to use your autoresponder is by including your terms and conditions. Often times, potential customers and clients simply don’t have enough time to read through your terms and conditions. The terms and conditions are very important, which is why it never hurts to include them with an email. Your terms and conditions that you email could include the exact copy from your website, or detailed information about your return policies, purchases, refunds, and anything else you think a potential customer would like to know.
There are many other ways that you can use your autoresponder. All you need to do is put a little bit of creativity and thought into it, and you’ll probably find yourself amazed with all the things you can do with autoresponders. They are very popular with Internet marketing and online businesses these days, and for good reason. If you’ve grown tired of having to manage every aspect of your online business – now is the time to invest in an autoresponder. They are user friendly and very affordable – making them something that no business should ever be without.
Boosting Your Business w/ Auto Responders
These days, most everyone is familiar with an autoresponder, although many don’t know why they are beneficial to businesses. If you aren’t familiar with autoresponders, you would probably find yourself amazed with them. An autoresponder can help your business by automatically emailing your clients and customers with a preset message that will help to increase your sales.
An autoresponder can help your list of clients grow, even send each one of them their own personalized email message. If you choose, you can also follow up each individual email with repeated emails, varying the content whenever you wish. These programs will also allow you to keep track of conversations, and send out broadcast email messages whenever you have news or new products to offer your clients.
As research in the past has shown, personalized email from autoresponders is a great way to boost your business. When you send a personalized email to one of your clients, the autoresponder by can address him or her by their name – which always makes a customer take notice. While you could do this yourself using traditional email, it could take you a few hours if you have a long list of customers.
Autoresponders make sending personalized email a snap. All you need to do is set up your email template, then select where you like the name to go. You can add everyone in your customer list to the autoresponder, which makes sending emails a snap. Once you have everything ready to go, all you need to do is send out the emails with one simple click. Best of all – you don’t have to set it up again when you need to send out broadcast messages.
Although there are some people who will buy products after one or two emails, most people require about seven or eight emails before they will purchase anything. Autoresponders can really help you there, as they will do all of the emailing for you. You don’t have to keep sending manual emails or anything like that. All you need to do is set up the email address, type in your preset message, and then feel free to send it as many times as you like.
Through the use of an autoresponder you can really boost your business. If you run an Internet marketing business, this tool will prove to be invaluable. You can spend less time sending messages – and more time doing what you enjoy. If you’ve never tried an autoresponder before, you owe it yourself to check out everything they will do for you and your business. Online businesses can get a lot of emails on a daily basis – which is where the autoresponder will really start to shine and show you just how great of an asset it really is.
Well… I truly have to agree with that simply because this is where you’ll always have a consistent source of FREE Targeted traffic(also referred to as ‘Sticky Traffic’) to promote your offers or related information to for years to come.
It just makes sense, wouldn’t you say?
And, we all know that ‘Email’ is where the $MONEY$ is truly made when it comes to marketing your business online because it gives You the ability to Follow-Up your potential customers until they decide to buy from You.
But, the problem that usually takes place is that people don’t know where to start when it comes to building there own targeted Opt-In list.
Now, for those of you that are new Internet marketing and don’t know what an email list is, here’s a quick definition:
An ‘Opt-In’ list is simply a database of peoples Names and Email Addresses that have subscribed to an email list via a web form giving that list owner permission to send them periodic emails on the topic they are interested in.
Notice how I said, “giving that list owner permission to send them email“.
When they subscribe to your Opt-In list they are giving You permission to send them offers or related information on the topic they are interested in, this is known as ‘Permission Email Marketing’.
This is the ABSOLUTE safest form of email marketing where You won’t get accused of ‘SPAM’.
This is very important that You understand this from the beginning.
So, now that you have a clear idea in your mind of what an Opt-In list is and how it will benefit You and your business, I guess it’s time to share with you the simple ‘Ten Step Process’ that I have put together for you on How-To build your own targeted Opt-In list that you can email your offers to at any given time for $Profit$.
Step #1. Pick your Target market or Niche.
This is a very important step because this is where you need to figure out who your target market is going to be for the Product or Service your going to offer.
So, for example, if I was interested in selling a book related to Internet Marketing, well then, my target market would be Internet Marketing related.
Step #2. Can your Target market or Niche be reach online?
This step is where you need to do a little research on whether or not your particular target market can be reached online.
In order to do this you need to do some keyword research using keywords related to your target market.
You can do this by using the Overture keyword research tool located at the URL I’ve provided below.
Simply type in the keywords related to your target market in the form provided.
This will give you a detailed history of how many searches have been made in the last 30 days on the keywords related to your target market.
As a general rule, if your targeted keywords aren’t pulling in 15,000 or more searches per month, then this is a market I wouldn’t pursue simply because there isn’t much demand for it.
Step #3. Are they making money in this Niche?
This is where you need to do some research on your competition to see if people are spending any money in this Niche.
You can do this by going to Google at http://www.google.com and type in your targeted keywords related to your Niche in the form provided.
This will give you a list of search results.
Those results are your competition, but even more important, to the right you’ll notice little ads.
These are paid ads offered through Google Adwords.
This means that somebody is willing to pay to advertise and is paying attention to this particular Niche and must be making money if they’re willing to pay for advertising.
That’s good news for you.
Step #4. Use Forums to find your Target markets problems.
Forums are a great place to find out exactly what your potential customers TOP problems are by simply scanning there posts and looking for the most common threads.
By doing this you’ll be able to know right away what your target markets TOP problems are and how you can help solve there problem.
To find Forums related to your Niche simply visit Google http://www.google.com and type in your targeted keywords with ‘+ forums’ after your keyword.(ex. internet marketing + forums)
Step #5. What’s keeping them from getting what they want?
This is where you have to figure out whats keeping them from getting what they want in order to fix the problems they are dealing with, meaning, this is where you need to work with them to find a solution to there problems.
Whether its a Product they need or a Service of some sort.
Step #6. What can you offer them to solve there problems?
This is where the money is being spent.
Now, the only thing you need in order to receive your share of the revenue is a Product or Service that will solve your potential customers problem.
If you don’t have a Product or Service of your own don’t get discouraged.
I’m going to give you two resources where you can find products or services that You can become an affiliate for that are related to any Niche that will pay you a commission for every sale you make by simply referring your traffic to there website.
The two websites to visit are http://www.clickbank.com and http://www.associateprograms.com
Step #7. Set-Up a simple direct response mini-site.
Here is where you Set-Up your lead generating website with a Follow-Up System that your potential customers will come to and Opt-In to your list to start receiving offers or related information on the topic or problem they are having.
This is a very simple process to do and you can view my website as an example of how one would look.
If you don’t know how to build your own website you can always hire someone to do it for you by going to… http://www.elance.com
Step #8. Get an Auto-Responder account.
This is where you’ll be laying the foundation down for your list.
You MUST have an Auto-Responder account Set-Up before you make your mini-site go live because this is where your potential customers are going to come and submit there Name and Email Address so that you can start building a list to send your offers or related information to.
So, do not miss this important step.
Step #9. You need to figure out what ‘Bait’ to use.
What I mean by ‘Bait’ is… what are you going to offer them for FREE to get them to subscribe to your Opt-In list.
Here are some examples of what you can use as ‘Bait’: ebooks, special reports, mini-courses, coupons, etc.
These are the most common. It really depends on who you are targeting, so be creative.
Step #10. Reach out to your target market.
This is the part where you send traffic to your website in order to get subscribers.
I’m going to mention only two methods.
These methods are the most POWERFUL and for good reason, they work.
The first method is Writing Articles.
By Writing Articles your showing your target market that You are someone who knows how to help solve there problem and may have a possible solution for them.
This is the quickest way to build INSTANT credibility in your Niche.
The second method is to send targeted traffic to your mini-site through Pay-Per-Click search engines.
Pay-Per-Click search engines are where you bid on the keywords terms related to your target market and are listed according to the highest bid for that keyword term.
By using PPC search engines, it will get you infront of your target market Instantly.
Writing articles gives you INSTANT credibility and will put you infront of thousands of readers, and Pay-Per-Click search engines send you HIGHLY targeted traffic to your website within minutes depending on which PPC search engine you are using.
The More traffic you send to your website, the More subscribers you’ll receive.

How We Generated 60 Subscribers in 6 Days
Now I know what you’re thinking; 60 subscribers? What’s the big deal with that? And to be honest; not much.. on the surface. Once you dive into the specifics of what obtaining a lead means to an individual organization, it all comes down to how much we’re willing to spend to get said subscribers — and how much we’ll get in return for our efforts.
Not too crazy right?
Basically what I mean is this; if a subscriber can mean a potential $30,000/mo. — how much would you spend to get them? Probably anything below $30,000, correct?
That’s just the smart way to do business — invest less than what your customers (..or potential customers) are going to give you in return. This is strictly fund-wise. I’m not saying that you should give your customers everything under the sun; rather just enough to get them into the door.
This is where our study get’s interesting.
See we didn’t want to invest $1,000 per lead — that’s just outrageous by every means; still, we needed to increase our lead volume and start driving more traffic which as Ryan Deiss would say — converts into leads — then into customers.
Which makes perfect sense… on paper. How effective was this ‘driving traffic to convert to leads’ tactic?
What we believe here at BrandBlast is that value comes before profit. People come before profits. And that’s why we work so hard on providing high quality free offers and free value that can be accessed by everyone. It was this very approach that would turn our business into a traffic generating MONSTER.
We began posting regularly (.. if you haven’t noticed) and not only were we posting more frequently; our content took on a whole new life — a higher quality — higher value bearing life. And it’s been working out amazingly *yes, I said amazingly.
But why is this so important?
Plain & Simple; conversions. We were able to take the 60 something subscribers we had just obtained throughout a week and automated our email responses to when they joined; we immediately sent them something special.
We mixed it up a little from time to time by offering say our 120 Free Social Media Tips or the Facebook LaunchKit (now only premium) — moral of the story is; by automating our new user response — we were able to immediately reach out to our subscribers and give them yet ANOTHER free source of value. Typically in the form of a lead magnet (forcing them again to optin to a list) but this list would be specific to what they decided to optin for.
Because naturally; you can’t expect your list to buy into a lead magnet the first, second or sometimes even three times. You have to tell them what to do; but in a strategic way.
See what we did was ‘bought’ their trust by giving them insanely valuable content on our Blog — then we reeled them in with yet another FREE source of value. Ultimately leading up to the offer.
This is what providing powerful value BEFORE asking for a sale works wonders on your business. It did for us, it can definitely do the same for you.
